Posted on 11/19/2020
The Southworth Library presents Holiday Happenings starting Saturday, December 5, 2020.

Looking for some ways to experience the holidays safely?

Come to the library at 24 West Main Street to pick up a Nutcracker Scavenger Hunt Sheet and solve the riddles to find the 12 nutcrackers displayed in village businesses and organizations. When you have found them, just turn in your sheet to the library for an opportunity to win prizes, including gift packs of movie tickets to the Crown City Cinema, gift cards & merchandise from our local businesses and more in our weekly drawings!  All sheets must be turned in by December 21.

We will also welcome Pete the Cat for Stories in the Snow with Ms. Diane on Saturday, December 5 at 11 am.  Children will spread out in the outdoor reading area for a safe venue for stories with take home kits with crafts, activities and a free book. (Sponsored by the Rosen Library Fund of the Community Foundation of Tompkins County.)

All kids can sign up for a free Holiday take home bag with crafts, activities and a free book by calling or emailing the library at [email protected]. Kits will also be available to make a caring card and 'send a hug' to reach out to neighbors and friends. Homemade cards will be delivered to those who are isolated in nursing homes or those who are socially distancing due to COVID-19 restrictions. Cards must be returned to the library by December 14 for safe and timely delivery. Contact the library for more information.

Don't miss Santa reading the Holiday Classic, The Night Before Christmas by Clement C. Moore on our youtube channel December 5. You may win a beautifully illustrated copy of this classic when you watch it and message us!

You may even spy Santa lighting the Christmas Tree on the Village Green!
