The Sophie Fund, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit charitable corporation established to support mental health initiatives aiding young people in greater Ithaca and Tompkins County. It supports programs and projects; raises awareness and fights the stigma around mental illness and treatment; advances a “zero suicide” ethos in the community; and serves as a community advocate for young people struggling with mental illness.
The Sophie Fund works closely with local government authorities, nonprofit agencies, university administrators, youth organizations, and mental health specialists in efforts aimed at achieving tangible results. Through a fund set up at the Community Foundation of Tompkins County in April 2016, The Sophie Fund provides financial grants to organizations.
Dryden schools along with other school districts and agencies throughout Tompkins County are joining together and participating in The United In Kindness Campaign. October is National Bullying Prevention Month,; October 2nd is World Day of Bullying Prevention and October the 18th is Unity Day celebrating kindness, acceptance and inclusion.
Dryden Schools will be celebrating our commitment to kindness in a BIG way during October but are committed to this Every Day!

Thriving With Your Spirited Child! Starts October 4th!
(7) Wednesdays October 4-November 15, 6:30-8:00pm
@ Your device on ZOOM!
Spirited Children are just a little “more” of everything. Quicker to cry, louder, stubborn, more sensitive... none of the advice seems to work and you feel like you’re all alone
This 7-week workshop series is for parents and caregivers who want to learn additional tools to effectively and supportively raise their spirited child(ren). Learn how to understand a child's (and your own) temperamental traits, identify clues leading up to challenging behaviors, cope with tantrums and blow-ups, and develop strategies for reducing or eliminating power struggles. The workshop is led by trained facilitators, Serena Ward and Mandy Beem-Miller.
Series meets (7) Wednesdays October 4, 11, 18 & 25 and November 1, 8 & 15, 6:30-8:00pm. Note: no one may join this class after October 11.
Participants are encouraged, but not required, to first attend a series of PS: It Works! Workshop Series (PSWS). Please note that preference is given to Tompkins County residents.
There is no charge to attend this workshop.
