The Solar Express Traveling Library is back again this year to help children experience the love of reading.

Ten Dryden High School students had their art work selected for the Annual New York/Pennsylvania Scholastic Art Awards. The Dryden High School Art Department recognized these students and their work at the Board of Education meeting on Jan. 19. The Scholastic Art Award Exhibition will be displayed at the Arnot Art Museum in Elmira from Feb. 2 until March 6. Congratulations to all!

"Social Distance: The Musical" is an original show written and performed by Dryden Middle School students! This virtual musical will premiere on the website (on this page) and Facebook on January 4th.

The New York State Education Department (NYSED) has developed a Parent Dashboard to increase transparency and make information about school performance and other school-level data easier for parents and the public to access.

As part of the NYSED Targeted Support and Improvement District process, we are required to submit improvement plans for our district (DCIP).

The Dryden Touchdown Club, which supports the Dryden Football Teams, will hold their 2nd Annual Golf Tournament at Elm Tree Golf Course on Saturday August 10th, 2019.

This message is to update you on the District's preparedness in response to the ongoing health concerns related to the COVID-19.

The Child Development Council is working with the Dryden Central School District to support the needs of families with young children by offering access to infant formula and diapers to families who have experienced loss of income and resources because of COVID-19.

On Friday, April 25, Dryden's first Community Food Pod will be installed at Montgomery Park.

Each year, five works of writing and five works of art from each region in New York State are selected by local judges as American Voices & Visions nominees. Two Dryden High School students recently received this honor.

At the Board of Education meeting on Monday, Feb. 10, Dryden Elementary School's Green Team shared a presentation about sustainability in the DES community. They spoke about different ways to reduce waste by recycling, using compost bins and more!

Twenty-four Dryden High School students will be honored as 2020 Scholastic Art Award Winners at the Clemens Center in Elmira on Saturday, Feb. 1. This special event will honor students, teachers and schools by publicly recognizing the young artists of our region. Following the awards presentation, a reception will be held at the Arnot Art Museum where students’ artwork will be on display. Congratulations to all!

On Thursday, Oct. 31, Dryden Middle/High School students and staff came together for Service Day, an afternoon of volunteer work with the goal to enhance, support and contribute to Dryden schools and the community.

This year, School Board Appreciation Week takes place from October 21 to 25. Below are the various ways Dryden Central School District students and staff express their gratitude to our Board of Education for their commitment to our district.

On Tuesday, Oct. 1, Rep. Tom Reed visited Dryden Middle/High School to take a tour of the capital improvement project renovations and speak with a group of high school students about the current political climate.

Members of the Dryden High School Class of 2020 visited all kindergarten classrooms to read and hand out books to the children on Thursday, September 26. This is part of the graduation tradition that was started last year called “Pages Through the Ages.” It is an initiative sponsored by the the “Talktime Dryden” group to instill the love of reading in our youngest learners.

On Saturday October 12th, the volleyball program will be hosting their annual Breast Cancer Tournament. Proceeds from the tournament are donated directly to a family in the community that is going through a fight with breast cancer.

This spring, Dryden High School incorporated a new unit into the health class curriculum. Believed to be the first research-based high school health unit in the country to address child brain development, this lesson teaches students the importance of reading aloud to young children to promote early literacy skills and language development.

Cortland Repertory Theatre “Pavilion Awards” recognize outstanding achievement in local high school theatre during the school year. I am happy to announce that Dryden's production of "The Addams Family" has won 4 CRT Pavilion awards in 2019.

Thirty-three photography students had their work selected for a Rural/Urban Exhibition and nine students had their work selected for the 2019 Ithaca Festival Pop-Up Exhibit. Congratulations!

Twenty-four Dryden High School students were inducted into the National Honor Society on the Tuesday, April 4.

Speech Pathologist Mary Balfour and Kindergarten Teacher Nicole Decker at Dryden Elementary School have a mission to promote the impact of early literacy and language skills on the lives of young children. By engaging with the Dryden community through book festivals, they aim to help children fall in love with books and words while supporting families in creating excitement around shared book experiences.

The Dryden High School Art Department is pleased to announce that 15 students were awarded Scholastic Art Awards on Sunday, January 27 at the Clemens Center in Elmira, NY.

The Dryden Hall of Fame Inductees for 2019 were recognized at the White Out Basketball Game on Saturday, January 26.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Wednesday, Dec. 5 that Dryden Central School District is among 32 districts in New York State receiving a grant to support the expansion of the district’s pre-kindergarten program. As an effort to promote early education, Dryden’s award of $114,624 will assist in the implementation of a new pre-kindergarten section at Dryden Elementary School.

This year marks the 96th Annual National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at the President’s Park in Washington, D.C. and Dryden High School’s decorated ornaments will be on display at the celebration. The Commissioner of the New York State Department of Education selected Dryden High School’s art department to create 24 ornaments to be hung at the ceremony on a Christmas tree representing New York State.

Dryden Middle School students are learning to safely and confidently ride bikes after receiving the Riding for Focus grant from the Specialized Education Foundation to introduce bicycling into the physical education curriculum.

Dryden Central School District has partnered with School Messenger and CiTi BOCES Public Relations to build a new school district website that will provide a responsive and engaging web experience for visitors across every device.
